Dr. Libor

UX / UI design

Redesign project of a professional website in the field of medicine.

Dr László Libor is a surgeon who works at a clinic in Hungary but has a private practice on the side. In this day and age it is essential to have a website as a professional. He wishes to help patients to get in contact with him more easily, provide information about his services and allow to make appointments online.

About

Refreshing the design of the existing website and adding a new appointment functionality.
As the sole freelancing designer on the project, I was responsible for all aspects from branding and logo creation to web design.

My role

The website is quite simple and the navigation is easy. However, there are repetitive screens with the same information, the design lacks branding and there is no appointment system.

Old design

The aim is to get more patients into his private practice by having a stonger online presence. Allowing patients to gather information about the procedures before visiting the office in person and make appointments with just a few clicks contributes to customer satisfaction.

Business goals
  • Information about the doctor's professional background

  • Services and prices

  • Location and office hours

  • Contact info

  • Making appointment

User needs
Wireframes

I use mapping for every project because it enables me to keep a catalog of features in an organized way even if the product is quite simple; in this case we have a home page and five additional pages (About me, Services, Prices, Contact and Appointment). After I laid out the site map, I started making wireframes. Firstly I sketched them on paper, then the high-fidelity wireframes were created in Figma.

When creating the brand identity for this project, I tried to stick to cooler colors as people associate blueish hues with medicine. We wanted the logo to represent a style that is rounded, but also has straight edges - as if the letters were written with a rectangle-shaped brush. I also designed icons for the four main areas of expertise Dr. Libor offers; consultation, outpatient surgeries, proctology and chronic wound care.

Branding
User Interface

For the final visual designs, I used Figma and Adobe Illustrator. During this phase, I created all the screens of the product for desktop. The goal of the design was to achieve an interesting change of light and dark colors for a dynamic look and feel. The biggest challenge was to use additional colors for each service to prevent the design from being too repetitive.

Professional

Dr Libor's field of expertise and relevant work experience is available under the site's 'About me' section as an introduction for future patients. Each service has a general description and pricing so that patients know what to expect at the office.

The process starts with entering personal information, then the user selects location and service or multiple services from the list. They can choose the date from a calendar and after a summary screen, the appointment is successfully booked. Confirmation arrives in email.
